Anthony Ray Merritt

Jonesville Mr. Anthony “Tony” Ray Merritt, 58, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at his home. Mr. Merritt was born November 28, 1960 in Forsyth County to Ray Southern and Virginia "Hazel" Harrell. He enjoyed rock climbing, riding motorcycles, going to concerts, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Merritt was preceded in death by a step-father, William “Bill” Wayne Harrell; one brother, Ronnie Lee Merritt; and his special K-9 companion, Ozzy. He is survived by a daughter, Christy (Chad) Laughter; two grandchildren, Oryan Dinkins and Ronan Laughter, and one to arrive in October; His sisters, Tina S. Tilley, G.R. Merritt and Peggy (James) Floyd; and one brother, Michael (Beth) Harrell.  Tony’s wish was to have no formal service, but to have his ashes spread in the North Carolina mountains. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Merritt family.
