April Hunt Harper

East Bend

April Christina Hunt Harper came into this world April 14, 1979.  She left this world to go to her eternal home suddenly and peacefully on July 13, 2021.  At 42 years young, it was way too soon for all of us left behind.  She had many “loves” in her life.  First of all, her Lord and Savior; her husband of 19 years, Tim; her beautiful daughter, Abby; her parents, Robert and Sherry Hunt; and her wonderful in laws, Pat and Vernon Harper.  Also, a brother, Robbie Hunt and wife Crystal; two special nieces, Dixie and Willa Hunt.  She had several special cousins and numerous friends that she cherished.   

April graduated from Surry Community College with an Associate in Arts degree then on to Appalachian State to obtain a degree in special education and a Masters in Reading.  She had many other loves in all the children she taught in her 19-year career along with her good friend and assistant, Tammy Shore.  April began her teaching career at Chestnut Grove in Stokes County as a Special Education Teacher, then onto East Bend Elementary as a Kindergarten, First and Third Grade teacher.  She was very active in her church in many capacities.  Her special love was serving and working with the youth group.  April will be celebrating in Heaven with her Heavenly babies, her maternal grandparents, Fay and Bud Patterson and her paternal grandparents, Pauline and Robbie Hunt.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM, Friday evening, July 16, 2021 at Gentry Funeral Service in East Bend.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 17th at East Bend Friends Church with Pastor Marty Wood and Randy Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
