Mrs. Audrey Bavender, 93, passed away on April 14, 2024. She was born on May 2, 1930 in Yadkin County to Roscoe and Lillian Bovender Smith. She was a long-time member of Deep Creek Friends Meeting. She volunteered with hospital auxiliary at Hoots Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed doing yard work, flowers, and most importantly, loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bavender was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Dewey Holcomb; second husband, Clyde Bavender; a daughter, Becky Holcomb Knott; a son, Charles D. Holcomb; twin brother, Aubrey Smith; and a brother, Gray Smith. She is survived by her sons, Benny (Donna) Holcomb and Boyd Holcomb; daughter-in-law, Kay (Donald) Dunn; son-in-law, Frank (Betsy) Knott; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Boles, Kristin (Matt) Laws, Fronia Knott, Justin (Jessica) Dunn and Dillon (Rachel) Dunn; four great-grandchildren, Liam Dunn, Truett Dunn, Timothy Carpenter and Teegan Boles; two brothers, Bobby Lee Smith and James Smith; a sister, Kathryne Powers; and many nieces and nephews that she was very fond of. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Deep Creek Friends with Rev. Randy Quate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
