Avery Leefay Pike Jr

Avery Leefay Pike Jr., 77, went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2018. He was born on April 24, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Avery “Bud” Pike and Kathleen McCann Holt. He attended Forsyth County schools. He joined the Army in 1959 and retired in 1979. He served in the Vietnam war. After retirement he worked at Security work. He attended Montgomery Technical College, where he graduated for Gunsmithing in 1986. He was a charter member of the American Legion 505 in Yadkin County and he is a member of the VFW Hamptonville. He was a member of the Action Shooters Club, The Old Northstate in Salisbury, health permitting. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Gloria Martin Pike; 2 sons Patrick Pike of Jacksonville Florida, Michael Pike of Hurt Virginia; granddaughter Jessie Pike of Hurt Virginia; sister Dawn (Phil) Thompson of Boonville NC; brother-in-law Richard (Susan) Martin of Lewisville NC; nephew Cameron Phillips of Boonville NC; niece Laura Hardy of Lewisville NC; great niece Avery Pitman of Lewisville NC. His funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 5, 2018, 2:00 PM in the Gentry Family Funeral Service Chapel, with Chaplin Buddy Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory Cemetery of Clemmons. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service.
