Barbara Mooney Freeman

Barbara Mooney Freeman, age 77, passed away October 25, 2021. She was born October 3, 1944 in Surry County to the late Hardin Columbus Mooney and Mabel Key Mooney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Emery Freeman; and her brother, H.C. Mooney Jr. Mrs. Freeman was a faithful member of Arlington First Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated servant until her health began to decline. Barbara also volunteered with Hugh Chatham Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her sister and her husband, Pat and Gary Martin of Mount Airy, NC; several nieces, and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; many extended family, friends, and loved ones; and a very special friend for many years, who is like an adopted daughter and her husband, Dawn Kirk Osborne and Dana Osborne of Jonesville, NC. There will be a private graveside service, held at a later date, at Arlington Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Matty Ponce De Leon officiating. The family would like to thank Barbara’s longtime caregivers, Becky Gregory, and Candace Wilcox, and the staff of RidgeCrest Assisted Living for the loving care shown to Barbara.
