Barbara "Polly" Matthews McKnight

East Bend Mrs. Barbara “Polly” Ellen Matthews McKnight, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. McKnight was born February 25, 1936 in Yadkin County to Robert (Bob Jim) and Flora (Nola) Wall Matthews. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKnight was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gray McKnight; a grandchild, April Howard; sisters, Katie Davis, Betty Vestal and Frances Hobson; brothers, Bobby Matthews, Edward Matthews, Junior Matthews, and Lovell Matthews. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (David) Myers and Nancy (Kenneth) Howard; grandchildren, Marty (Michael) Hodges, Tracy (Aaron) McDonald, Jessica Howard (Brent Brown), Joshua Howard; great grandchildren, Lillie Howard, Nola Howard-Brown, Katie Mae McDonald, Maelynn McDonald, and Hazel McDonald; a brother, Archie (Barbara) Matthews; a sister-in-law, Rosa Matthews; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30PM, Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Union Grove Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in East Bend prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2401 Nebo Road Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend is serving the McKnight family.
