East Bend

EAST BEND -- Mrs. Barbara Baker St. John, 78, of St. John Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin. Born on August 17, 1946, in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Mamie Cheek Baker.

Barbara was a faithful and active member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where she found comfort and joy in worship and fellowship for many years, as long as her health permitted. She was a woman of great love and devotion, who treasured her family deeply. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the heart of her family, always there with support, encouragement, and a caring hand. Her favorite moments were spent attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, as well as enjoying fishing and camping trips with them. Her warm spirit and nurturing heart touched all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Noah Randall St. John; a grandchild, Melanie Ann St. John; and her siblings, Grady Baker, Arvil Baker, George Baker, Roy Baker, Betty Ashley, Pauline Mooney, and Dorothy Jester.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Steven (Debbie) St. John, Michael (Sara) St. John, and Jason (Hope) St. John; her grandchildren, Jordan St. John, Bryson St. John, Jacob St. John, Zayley St. John, and Mason St. John; her great-granddaughter, Camdyn St. John; and her sister, Margaret (Herbie) Sneed.

Barbara’s love will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Her kindness, wisdom, and compassion will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenny Gooden. Interment will take place at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin.
