Baxter McLendon Adams

Baxter McLendon Adams, 86, passed away Friday October 20, 2017. He was born October 7, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Rovey Clay and Sadie Wagoner Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. He served in the US Army. He was a cattleman, farmer, and supervisor with Vaughan Bassett Furniture Company. What defined him most was his love for his family, who he always put first. His love and compassion for animals was evident to all as he was considered the community veterinarian. Those who knew him could always depend on his willingness to help when in need. His smile was a true reflection of the man he was. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Muriel Shore. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Barbara Winebarger Adams; two daughters Jan Adams and Rosita Garrett; a son Tommy (Sherri) Adams; grandchildren Jordan Garrett, Valerie Garrett (Bobby) Rasberry, Lane Garrett, Joseph Stroud, Jessica Stroud and Tara Stroud; great grandchildren Nicholas Garrett, Ashtyn Andrews and Jaxon Rovira. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Monday October 23, 2017 at Island Ford Baptist Church. His funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM following the visitation at the church by Dr. Charlie Kennedy and Dr. Conard Hatfield. Burial will follow at Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery.
