East Bend - Mrs. Bertha Hodge Prim, 92, of Nebo Road passed away peacefully Friday, January 3, 2025 at her home. She was born December 16, 1932 in Surry County to the late Walter and Irene Hodge Hodge. Mrs. Prim attended Charity Baptist Church in her earlier years, worked with Astoria Braid in Boonville, was Activity Director for Yadkin Nursing Center, and then retired as Dietician for Hoots Memorial Hospital Cafeteria in Yadkinville. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Prim; her daughter, Irene Casstevens; her granddaughter, Kelly Casstevens Jarvis; 2 brothers, DeWitt (Lucille) Hodge, James “Shorty” (Lillian) Hodge; and 2 sisters, Verlie (Evan) Vestal and Opal (Kenneth) Reece. Surviving are her son, Edward (Glenda) Prim; daughter, Judy (Tim) Borre; son-in-law, Ray Casstevens; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM Monday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Kenny Gooden. Interment will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens.
