Hamptonville- Betty Lou Chappell, 91, passed away peacefully at Chatham Nursing Center, Tuesday, December 11, 2018. She was born September 19, 1927 in Yadkin County the last of 10 children to the late James Sanford “Jim” Chappell and Ella Novella Hemric Chappell. Ms Chappell enjoyed inside work and was an excellent cook. She was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. She retired from Lucia after many years of service. In 2004 she was involved in an auto accident that dramatically changed her life. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Weldon Roosevelt, Everett Franklin, and Lonnie Clay Chappell; and by 6 sisters, Freeda Revon, Lilly Bell, and Ada Mae Chappell, Janie Viola Brown, Pearl Louise Johnson, Margaret Wilkins. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Friday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Larry Luffman. Burial will follow in Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Crest of Clemmons and Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin for their loving care of the last 12 years. in lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest memorials be made to Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3919 Swaims Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
