Betty Chipman Gentry

Gentry Jonesville- Betty Chipman Gentry, 78, of Jonesville, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at her home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, surrounded by her family. She was born in Surry County on May 9, 1939 to Willie Anderson and Daisy Brown Chipman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Frankie Shaffner and Dorothy Southard, and two brothers, Otis Chipman and Curtis Chipman. Mrs. Gentry was of the Baptist faith. She loved to cross stitch and loved to draw and shop with her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband, Manleth Dalin Gentry, Jr., a son, Dalin Dwayne (Lydia) Gentry and a daughter, Anna (William) Rice, two grandchildren Reanna Rice and Rilei Rice, two sisters, Lola (Buddy) Key and Jane (Albert) Darnell, five brothers, Charles (Barbara) Chipman, Bobby (Sandy) Chipman, Tommy (Elaine) Chipman, Cecil (Sue) Chipman,Carl (Susan) Chipman, a special sister-in-law, Colleen Kennedy, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, NC with Cody Darnell officiating.  Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
