Billie Ray Vestal

Yadkinville Billie Ray Vestal passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 23, 2017. Born on April 9, 1943 to the late Jonie and Bessie Nichols Vestal, he graduated from Courtney High School and Forsyth Technical Institute. Billie attended both Deep Creek and Courtney Baptist Church and was a very active member in the community. He served several terms as Yadkin County Commissioner and was a longtime member of the Courtney Ruritan Club, Harmon Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites. He will also be remembered for his many years of service with the Deep Creek Community Center. Billie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Warren Vestal; by 3 children, Wanda Houlihan (Karl) of Orlando, FL; William Vestal of Yadkinville and Connie Dorton (David) of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren; Kristen Houlihan, Will, Lilly and Zachary Dorton and Laken (Derek) Cranfill and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Mary Suits and Betty Jean Upright of Statesville, NC and brother in law, Thomas Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Leo, Wesley and Junior Vestal. Services will be held on October 29, 2017 at 3:00pm at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Page officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1:30pm-3:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may to made to Deep Creek Baptist Church Renovation Fund 2401 Old Stage Road Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Deep Creek Community Center 2248 Brawley Road Yadkinville, NC 27055.
