Billy Eugene Brooks

Yadkinville Mr. Billy “Wahoo” Eugene Brooks, 76 passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Brooks was born February 22, 1943 in Robeson County. He attended River City Baptist Church and retired from Asplundh Tree Service with 46 years of service. Mr. Brooks enjoyed fishing, playing pool, playing cards and Bingo. In addition to his parents, Curtis and Josephine Brewington Brooks, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Brooks; a granddaughter, Kaylee White; and two nephews, Ryan Brooks and David Caldwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy Caldwell Brooks; four children, Susan (Ken) Phillips, Gene (Michelle) Brooks, Nancy (Steven) White, and Norma Jean Brooks (Kevin) Portas; grandchildren, Ryan White, MyKenna Brooks, Seth Portas and Krista Portas; one sister, Ruby (Eddie) Ammons; a sister-in-law, Myrtis (Stoney) Bullard; a brother-in-law, Doug (Phoebe) Caldwell; nieces, Amy (Chris) Cummings and Leigh (Mark) Johnson; a nephew, Jeff Brooks; and a special K-9 companion, Buddy. A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00PM, Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Gentry Family Chapel with Pastor Dennis Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
