Billy Gene Coe

Dobson Mr. Billy Gene Coe, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 04, 2021 at his home. Mr. Coe was born June 3, 1931 in Wilkes County to Numa and Lilly Campbell Coe. He was a member of Fairview Church of Christ and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired from Salem Electric as a Superintendent after 36 years of service and enjoyed woodworking. He made Easter baskets for the kids, serving trays, cabinets, and various pieces of furniture for family and friends. Bill enjoyed gardening and loved making breakfast for his family. He made the best blackberry jelly. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Coe; a son-in-law, Frank Fowler; sisters, Elna Mae Brewer and Charlotte Christie; and a brother, Rhett Coe. He is survived by three children, Van (Kathy) Coe, Darryl Coe, and Sharon Fowler; grandchildren, Patricia (Jonah) Hoosier, Ethan (Samantha) Coe, Jodi (Broz) Wilmoth, Cory Fowler, and Kayla Fowler & fiancée John Muir; great grandchildren, Jackson, Isabella, and Macon Wilmoth, and Baby Boyce Hoosier, due June 2021; two sisters, Josie (Clate) Wingler and Phyllis (Lawrence) Warden; his K-9 Companion, Ollie; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 4:00PM, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Fairview Church of Christ cemetery in Dobson with Bro. Jody Mitchell officiating with full military honors provided by NC National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. Bill will be available for public viewing Thursday, from 8:00am to 3:00pm at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, c/o Glenda Wingler, 4343 Cornelius Rd East Bend, NC 27018, to Mtn. Valley Hospice 243 N. Lee Ave. Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Foothills Food Pantry 233 Cooper St. Dobson, NC 27017. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn.
