Billy Ray Cornelius

Cornelius East Bend – Billy Ray Cornelius, 83, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at his home. He was born February 6, 1934 in Yadkin County to the late Paul Alvis Cornelius and Jessie North Cornelius.  Billy retired from R.J. Reynolds after 28 years of service.  He was a charter member of the Forbush Fire Department and served in the U.S. Army.  Billy enjoyed being outside and riding his John Deere mower.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Groce Cornelius.  Surviving are his sons, Billy Dean (Kelly) Cornelius, David Lee (Terri) Cornelius; grandchildren, Dana (Mark) Lawson, Ashten Cornelius, Derek (Karlie) Cornelius, Patrick (Iriana) Cornelius, Robert Cornelius; great grandchildren, Traeten Moxley; step-grandson, Charlie (Erin) Ross; step great-granddaughter, Hayven.  His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Baltimore United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev.
