Hallelujah! Billy Newsom Reece, born April 24, 1932, has reached his heavenly home. He left this world on August 14, 2018 after a battle with lung cancer. He spent the last part of his life surrounded by good friends and his family. His legacy will be carried on by his son, Billy Kern Reece; daughter Melissa Reece Hutchens, daughter-in-law Angela Wagoner Reece; and three granddaughters Sarah Beth Reece, Summer Paige Hutchens, and Nikki Michelle Hutchens, along with the Ford family of Yadkin County and Hoge’s of Alexandria, LA. He will be greeted in Heaven by his late wife, Vonda Ford Reece, as well as his mother Annie Newsom Reece, father William Franklin Reece, and sisters Linda Reece Kinnerly and Mary Jane Hoge. He will be remembered for many things: his deep faith in God and love of Baltimore United Methodist Church in East Bend, NC; his service to our great country during the Korean War and up until his death as a member of Yadkin V.F.W. and the joy he found in good music, fast cars and motorcycles, and great friends. To celebrate his 86 years, a funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 18, 2018, 11:00 AM at Baltimore United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin or Baltimore United Methodist Church of East Bend, NC. Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
