Billy Dale Williams, 90, passed away Monday January 7, 2019 at SECU Mountain Valley Palliative and Hospice Care in Yadkinvile, NC. He lived most of his life in Yadkin County, except for about 17 years when he moved his family to Pfafftown, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nell Whitley Williams, and his mother and step-father, Hazel and Hobert Vestal. He is survived by his son, Micky (Debbie) Williams of San Antonio, Texas, his daughter’s, Debi Williams Linzey (David) of Boone, NC, Janie Williams Bickley (Gene) of Linwood, NC; his granddaughters Holly Gloden (Michael) of Littleton, CO, Lindsey Proctor of San Mateo, CA, Crystal Boggs (Bryan) of Biloxi, MS, and Meghan Edwards (John) of Dublin, VA, great-granddaughters Mecquela and Bryanna Boggs of Biloxi, MS, and his dog, Butch. Billy is also survived by his sister-in-law Ernestine Whitley Warren (Terry) of Suffolk, VA, and brother-in-law Perry Whitley (Doris) of Exmore, VA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War and later in the Naval Reserves. He served aboard the USS Coral Sea, the USS Zellars DD-777, and the USS Abbot DD-629. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday January 10, 2019 with full Military Honors by the US Navy Honor Guard and the VFW Post 10346 at Forsyth Memorial Park. Anyone wanting to attend the graveside service can meet at Gentry Family Funeral Service by 10:00 AM and follow the funeral procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to SECU Hospice Home of Yadkinville 243 N. Lee Avenue Yadkinville, NC 27055, the USS ABBOT Reunion, c/o Ted Karras, 70 Joshua Baker Road, West Yarmouth, MA. 02683, or your favorite Animal Rescue Organization. We would like to thank the wonderful folks at Mountain Valley Hospice for their kindness and care of our Dad, and to a few other special folks, you know who you are!
