Bobby Lee Collins, age 88, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020. He was born August 26, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Thomas Sanford Collins and Cora Isabell Speer Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pearl Warden, Beulah Warden, Betty Cheek, Nellie Ruth Collins, and Mary “Shorty” Gray Collins Evans; brothers, Joshua Collins, Warren Collins, Thomas Ray Collins, Bruce Collins, and one new born brother. He is survived by his children, Jackie Lynn Collins, Johnny Lee (Cynthia) Collins, Jeffrey Lane (Linda) Collins; grandchildren, Lee Ann (Johnny) Calhoun, Alania (Payton) Day, Jodie Couch, Chris (Heather) Collins, Amanda (Wesley) Dye, Adreian (Nathan) Blackburn, J.R. Collins, Janaya Collins; thirteen great-grandchildren; and his brother Roger Collins. Mr. Collins served in the United States Army where he served in Korea. He was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening as long as his health permitted. There will be a public viewing on Saturday, January 2, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel following the public viewing with Rev. Jeff Collins and Bro. Chris Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Deep Creek Friends Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post. #10346.
