Bobby Joe Gentry

Harmony - Bobby Joe Gentry, 78, passed away on August 4th, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. Bobby had been in declining health for many years and when Linda was told more than 30 years ago, he needed to be placed in a facility, she told the doctors she married him for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health and she took those vows seriously. Bobby Joe had the best life possible because of their commitment and love for 54 years Bobby was born on April 14, 1943 in Iredell County to the late Gillis Glenn Gentry and Flora Whitlock Gentry. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James (Jimmy) Gentry. Before his disability Bobby worked over 20 years at Ingersoll Rand in Mocksville. He also had a strong love for motorcycles. He could still tell you ever motorcycle he ever had and stories even with his disability. He married Linda Martin Gentry on June 23, 1967 which was also her birthday so that he could always remember their anniversary which showed his fun-loving personality. Also surviving are his children, that were his pride and joy, his daughter, Tanya Gentry; son, Robert (Teresa) Gentry; and a sister, Rebecca (Becky). A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Benny Adams. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Gentry family.
