EAST BEND - Bonnie Jean Jones Tilley was born January 9, 1953 in Forsyth County to Marion Shermer Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth Slater Jones. She peacefully passed away on February 11, 2023 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Bonnie was devoted to her family and her greatest pride was her two children. She cherished the title "Granny" and time spent with her grandchildren. Prior to Bonnie's illness, she was an avid reader, enjoyed creating cards to share with others, and loved traveling with her late husband, Jerry Tilley. She worked at Pilot Freight until they closed, and finished her career at Lantal Textiles. She was a lifelong member of Enon Baptist Church and attended faithfully as long as her health allowed. She loved reading the Bible and serving the Lord. She shared that loved with children by teaching in the Children's Department for many years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and sharing fellowship with her friends and classmates. She will be remembered best as humble, selfless, and having a servant's heart. As her illness progressed, her faith remained strong and was evident in her journal entries which spoke of God's goodness, grace, and mercy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Hassel Tilley; her parents, Marion Shermer Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth Slater Jones; and her sisters, Joy Jones Smith and Rebecca Jones Speaks. She is survived by her children, Brandy Hobson Whitaker and Cameron Hobson (Amy); grandchildren, Hannah Hobson, Tristan Whitaker, Hailey Hobson, and Carson Hobson; great-granddaughter, Lilly Myers; her siblings, Shermer Jones (Shirley), Phyllis J. McManus, Emily J. Groce, and Shelia J. Hardy (Jeffrey); and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to thank the staff of Forest Heights Senior Living for the care provided to Bonnie in her final years.
