Carlton Jason Carter

Carlton Jason Carter, 82, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born January 6, 1936 in Oswego County, Fulton, New York to the late Leon Carlton Carter and Helen Payne Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William Robert Carter and a son Scott Carter. Mr. Carter was a member at Elkin Family Worship Center. Carlton is a veteran of the United States Navy where he served 4 years and reenlisted and served a year and got injured, which resulted in him receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse, New York area until moving to Ronda, NC in 2015 to marry to Sandra Waloven Carter.  He is survived by his wife Sandra Waloven Carter; son Herb Carter (Angie); children Bonnie Walden (Rick), Dennis Waloven (Wendy), Michael Waloven, Timothy Waloven (Melissa), Andrew Waloven (Velvet); grandchildren Ally Webb, Shane Carter, Rebecca Carter, Bethany Carter, Em Carter, Scott Carter; 19 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren Abby, Ben, Cecelia, Harry, Ariana, Illiam, Luna, and one on the way; 22 step great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Mann (Paul), Holly Blank (Jerry); brother Lewis Carter (Beryle); several nieces and nephews, a favorite cousin Earl “Buddy” Holton, and a very special nephew Steven Mann; special K-9 companions Yoohoo and Barney. The family would like to thank all of the 1st responders from Wilkes County EMS and Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office for the loving care given to the Carter family. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in the Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Jerry Ireland officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.  In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 4601 Forbes Blvd. Suite #130, Lanham, MN, 20706.
