Carol Lee Matthews Powell

Carol Lee Matthews Powell, 80, passed away Tuesday June 8, 2021. She was born October 17, 1940 in Yadkin County to Mary Lula Matthews Poindexter. She loved to sew, crochet, and she enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Powell was a member at Prospect United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of 61 years Henry Martin “HM” Powell; daughter Marnie Powell; son Marty Powell; brothers Ricky (Judy) Poindexter, Archie (Pam) Poindexter; special K9 friend Chico; two sister in laws Carol Harkey Powell, Carol Hobson Powell; and several special friends. People can come by and pay their respects to Mrs. Powell on Saturday June 12, 2021 from 8:30 – 4:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday June 13, 2021 at Prospect United Methodist Church by Pastor Lauren Anderson. The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of ICU at Baptist Hospital, Mountain Valley Hospice, and Christine Norman for the loving care given to Mrs. Powell.
