Carolyn Gaye Tucker Leatherman

Mrs. Carolyn Gaye Tucker Leatherman, 73, passed away Thursday November 26, 2020.  Mrs. Leatherman was born February 8, 1947 in Surry County to John Walter and Alice Hayes Tucker.  She was a charter member of Peace Haven Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.  Mrs. Leatherman was an amazing cook, making the best biscuits and gravy.  She loved to help others, and was a devout Christian.  Her biggest joys were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leatherman was preceded in death by her husband, John Samuel Leatherman; a daughter, Yvonne L. Norman; and five brothers, JW Tucker, Joe Bill Tucker, Jesse Tucker, Rev. Jimmy tucker, and Rev. Wade Tucker.  She is survived by her son, John Leatherman; four grandchildren, Betty Jean Weakley, Amanda Norman, Samantha (Shane) Waddell, and Andy Smith; twelve great grandchildren, Corey, Keyley, Ethan, Hunter, Alexis, Logan, Audrie, Madison, William, Ariel, James, and Alexandria; two great-great grandchildren, Peyton and Camden; a sister, Pattie Cockerham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leatherman will be able for viewing from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday November 29, 2020 and also from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday November 30, 2020 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM November 30, 2020 at Peace Haven Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jon Bowman and Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating.  Burial will follow at Peace Haven Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Tammy Long with New Horizons, 9^th Floor at Forsyth Medical Center, staff of Yadkin Nursing Center, and Dr. Ashley Lauer for the loving care given to Mrs. Leatherman.
