Carolyn Rose Cheek Pardue

Carolyn Rose Cheek Pardue age 85, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was born May 2, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Robert Lee and Minnie Wagoner Cheek. She graduated from West Yadkin High School. Mrs. Pardue was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church for 73 years. Survivng are her husband Fred Pardue; sons Danny (Karen) Pardue, Steven Pardue (Fiancée Kristy Groce); granddaughter Haley Pardue. Carolyn grew up as part of a hardworking farm family during the Great Depression. She excelled as a basketball player at West Yadkin School and she was the only female school bus driver at that time. Carolyn married M. Frederick Pardue at age 20. They spent a short period of time in Texas while Fred was in the military. Upon their return to Swan Creek, they built the house they call home for the remainder of her life. Carolyn enjoyed her life in Swan Creek with many friends and family around her. Softball and bowling were favored pastimes for her. She continued to bowl up into her 70’s. Carolyn was very creative, pursing, sewing, knitting and flower arranging. Members of Swan Creek Baptist Church have enjoyed her handiwork for years as she decorated for many special occasions. Her children and granddaughter were the focus of her attention. Family was most important to her. She attended to and cared for many members of her family as they entered the last stages of their lives. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:30 PM Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Swan Creek Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 following the visitation by Rev. Scott Bishop. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and also to Destinee, Teresa and Magan for the loving care given to Mrs. Pardue.
