Jones Boonville - Rev. Charles Henry “Charlie” Jones, 95, passed away from this world peacefully and entered into his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 10, 2018. Rev. Jones was born on April 9, 1923 in Kanawha Falls, W.Va. to the late Charles William and Mary Virginia Draper Jones. In addition to his parents, Rev. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and William, and his beloved wife of 68 years, Harriette Imogene "Emma" Clark Jones. Rev. Jones is survived by six children, Harold L. Jones and wife, Susan, of Greensboro, N.C.; Rebecca J. Boyd and husband, Robert, of Mooresville, N.C.; Deborah J. Lyon and husband, Roger, of Boonville, N.C.; Martha J. Schmidt and husband, Bruce, of Campobello, S.C.; the Rev. Charles G. Jones and wife, Marcia, of Bogart, Ga.; and Ray A. Jones and wife, Karen, of Chesapeake, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Sadler of Norfolk, Va.; a sister-in-law, Sue Kirby and husband, Bobby, of Kanawha Falls, W.Va.; and several other sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Rev. Jones served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then attended Piedmont Bible College in Winston Salem, N.C. and went on to pastor many churches across North Carolina and Virginia, including Shady Grove Baptist in Boonville; Goodview Baptist in Goodview, Va.; Mathews Baptist in Hudgins, Va.; Union Baptist in Achilles, Va., and Kempsville Baptist in Virginia Beach, Va., where he retired in 1989 after 23 years of service. He was given the honor of Pastor Emeritus at Kempsville for his long-standing and devoted service. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Mountain View Baptist Church in Hamptonville, N.C. with the Rev. Tim Tucker, the Rev. Danny Dodds, the Rev. Charles G. Jones and the Rev. Bruce Schmidt officiating and with military honors by the VFW Post 10346. A private graveside service will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Boonville. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Mountain View Baptist Church,1232 Mountain View Church Road, Hamptonville, N.C.
