Cheryl Ann Hertler, 61, passed away unexpectedly at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, NC on June 16, 2023. She was born May 4, 1962 in Belleville, NJ to the late Joseph and Catherine Tarnacki. Cheryl was multitalented as she worked many places during her life such as Shop Rite, NJ, Gooding’s, FL, St. Therese Catholic Church, NC, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church, NC. Anyone that knew her would say she had a servant’s heart as she had an immense passion for helping others. This includes caring for her mother, Catherine Tarnacki by moving her into her home and provided continuous love and support for over 10 years. She volunteered, made treats for neighbors, handed out flowers to strangers, donated money, and always sent cards to friends and family. She was devoted most of all to her family as her dream was to be a mother. Her endless and selfless love is the legacy she leaves to her family to carry on in her honor.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her ex-husband, Richard Hertler of Statesville, NC who she still cared for deeply; her daughter Kerri (Richie) Mullis of Yadkinville, NC; her son Craig (Anastasia) Hertler of Abu Dhabi, UAE; her 5 grandsons who she was devoted to - Brian Wilson, Vince Mullis, Jace Mullis, Otto Mullis and Eli Hertler; her brother Gerald (Lori) Tarnacki of Ormond Beach, FL; and her sister Cyndi Castine of Hickory, NC.
Per her wishes, there will be a private celebration of life in Yadkinville for her close family. There will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hertler family.
