Christopher (Chris) Byrd Snow

February 10, 1964 — March 10, 2025

Yadkinville

Christopher (Chris) Byrd Snow, known for his boundless love, generosity, and adventurous spirit, passed away on March 10, 2025. Born on February 10, 1964, he grew up with an early love for the outdoors, nurtured by his time in the Scouts and the hardworking example set by his family. From childhood, he kept his mother on her toes—always into something, up to something, or just one step ahead of being caught.

Once Chris called you a friend, you had him for life. He loved without limits and showed his affection in the simplest but most meaningful ways—whether it was picking up your favorite snack or surprising you with a Goodwill find that just reminded him of you. If you ever got to see his goofy, fun-loving side, you were in for a memory that would last a lifetime. His siblings fondly recall his younger years, full of music, dancing, and teaching them sports—always bringing joy wherever he went.

In 2017, Chris took on one of his most treasured roles – PawPaw. And, in true Chris fashion, he took that job full-heartedly. His love for his grandchildren showed in the way he spent time with them, his hilarious phone calls trying to decode their toddler babble, and his never-ending requests for more pictures.

Later in life, Chris decided he was going to master cooking. Decided being the key word. With a love for plundering food, he collected cookbooks and attempted to crack the code on its secrets. Unfortunately, in some cases cooking didn’t always love him back, and his experiments were often more of an adventure – but that never stopped him from trying. His kitchen experiments became a source of laughter, love, and maybe a phone tree or two to try and get things just right.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, William Foster Snow and Nancy Gaye Snow; loving brothers-in-law, Lynn Redding and Michael Royall; and dear friends, Rink Snow and Marty Beverly.

He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Amber Snow Glasscock (John), Kristen Byrd Snow (Joey), and Kendall Snow Simmons (Nathan); his cherished grandchildren, Raleigh, Shelby, and Evelyn; his siblings, Gary Snow (Cathy), Becky Redding, Margie Royall, and Patricia Lopez-Snow (Ramon); a special nephew, Jon Redding; and many other special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter. He had a special relationship with Adam and Zaina "Bug" who became his pals on the weekends and throughout the summer.

Chris will be remembered for the way he loved fiercely, laughed often, and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He made life brighter, funnier, and filled it with just the right amount of mischief. His memory will live on in every story told, every inside joke shared, and every "PawPaw moment" his grandchildren will cherish.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Gentry Family Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, and the service will follow immediately in the chapel. Please send flowers to Gentry Family Funeral Home addressed to the Snow Family, or in lieu of flowers you may donate to your local animal shelter on behalf of Chris and his love for Freckles and Leroy.
