Mr. Christopher Eric Watkins, 50, passed away Wednesday, October 06, 2021 at his home.  Mr. Watkins was born August 2, 1971 in Forsyth County to Ronald Gray Watkins and Linda Baity Mitchell.  He was a lifelong member of Huntsville Baptist Church.  He enjoyed being a K-9 Training Officer, riding horses, and spending time with his grandchildren.  Mr. Watkins retired as a law enforcement officer after having worked for Yadkin County Sherriff’s Office, Forsyth County Sherriff’s Office and Mocksville Police Department. 

In addition to his father, Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his stepfather, Raeford Mitchell and a brother, Jerry Mitchell.  He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maria Hutchens Watkins; two children, Natasha (Matthew) Whyte and Jacob (Cassidy) Watkins; grandchildren, Kayden Weeks and Joseph Whyte; sisters, Crystal Watkins, Marcia (Rudy) Posey, Brooke (David) Freeman, and Robin Miller; a brother, Marty Mitchell; special friends, Timmy & Jamie Gardner & family and Steve Cline; and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Huntsville Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Trivette officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Friday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
