Clara Burchette

Our beloved Clara Mae Burchette , age 86 of Hamptonville, NC. Was born in Danville ,VA on December 3,1938, daughter of Desmond Gray Smith, Sr. and Ella Mae Gentry Smith. Clara passed away on March 22,2025 at the SECU Mountain Valley Hospice. 

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Desmond Gray Smith, Jr. Daughter Lisa Rose Burchette; Sons’s Gary Dale Burchette and Jeffery Wayne Burchette; son-in-law Lee Long; granddaughter Ashley Nicole Freeman; great-grandson Mateo Joaquin Angel Hernandez and the father of her children Billy Dean Burchette. 

Clara is survived by her children; Mary Elizabeth Long ,Larry Dean Burchette,Brenda Carol Bautista ( Magdaleno),Jamie Lee Burchette, all of Hamptonville, NC. Janice Leigh Burchette, of the home. Jeannie Rebecca Burchette of Roaring River, NC. Brother Garland Eugene Smith (Joyce) of Broadway, NC; Sandra Jean Munday, of Leland, NC. Linda Gail Smith, of Metter,Ga. Donna Colleen Smith Oldham (David) of Moncure, NC Sister-in-law Dorothy Sue Smith of Glenville, NC. Her beloved 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her two special sidekicks Romero and Gypsy. 

Clara loved spending time with her family and pets, going to church, and Elvis Presley. She enjoyed spending her free time watching westerns, doing word puzzles, and drinking diet Dr. Pepper and coffee. 

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Clemmons Medical, Novant Forsyth Medical Center, and SECU Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and love they gave Clara during her last moments. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00P PM on Saturday March 29th, 2025 at Maranatha Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held following the visitation and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Gentry Family Funeral Service, Yadkinville, NC . The staff of Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Burchette family.
