East Bend-  Mr. Cole Matthews Hobson, 87, a loving Daddy, PawPaw, Brother, and Friend of Nebo Road passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin.  He was born November 6, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Conrad and Vera Hobson.  He was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church.  Mr. Hobson retired from the used car business.  He enjoyed his weekly golf game with friends at Silo Run Golf Course, and his daily breakfast with “The Gang” at Boonville Restaurant.  He adored each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved attending their ballgames and golf matches.  He took pride in his beautiful yard and garden, and enjoyed sharing his harvest with friends and family.  Mr. Hobson took pleasure in visiting  friends in his community.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Vera; an infant sister, Peggy; and his beloved wife of 66 years, Pernell.  Surviving are his loving children Mark Hobson and wife, Kaye, of Clemmons; Melissa Deaton, and husband, Danny of Plano, Tx; Mechelle Crissman, and husband, Joey of Boonville; grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Vestal, Leslie (Brian) Dudas, Joseph (Emily) Crissman, Roseanna (Austin) Laws; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carrie Vestal, Molly and Avery Dudas, Charley Joe and Ellie Crissman, Sadie and Ross Laws; his sisters, Carolyn Smitherman of East Bend, and Bobbie (Claude) Floyd of Greensboro.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM Tuesday at Union Grove Baptist Church.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM Tuesday in Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Gooden, Rev. Brent Winslow, and Rev.
