Columbia Elizabeth Gilliam Groce

Columbia Elizabeth Gilliam Groce, 87, passed away Thursday January 4, 2018. She was born January 18, 1930 in Surry County to the late Raymond and Selma Gatton Gilliam. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John D. Groce; a son Randy Dale Groce; a brother Johnny Gilliam. Surviving are her son Rex (Mary) Groce; grandchildren Erin (Michael) Cockerham, Melaine Groce Jordan (Silke) Groce; great grandchildren Jace Cockerham, Alison Groce, Cameron Groce; sisters Nancy (Kent) Brown, Margaret Simmons; brothers Dizzy Gilliam, Barry Gilliam; daughter in law Lois Ann Vestal Groce; sister in law Laura Gilliam. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday January 6, 2018 at Gentry Family Funeral service in Jonesville. Her service will be conducted at 2:00 PM following the visitation in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Randy Johnson. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for the loving care given to Mrs. Groce.
