Connie Holcomb Hobson

Hobson Yadkinville – Connie Holcomb Hobson, 85, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. She was born December 13, 1931 on Sam Reece Farm in Yadkin County to the late Jones Holcomb and Cora Swaim Holcomb.  She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years.  Connie moved to Woodruff Road when she was 2 years old.  She graduated from Boonville High School in 1949.  Connie helped Junior on the farm and she also worked for 24 years for First Citizens Bank in Boonville as an internal auditor and a bank officer.  She always loved to crochet, make quilts and baskets and dealing with antiques.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband whom she married on December 21, 1949, Junior Lee Hobson;  sister, Angeline Collins; brothers, Ernest Holcomb, Albert Holcomb, Harold Holcomb.  Surviving are her children, Janice O’Quinn and husband Michael, Davy Hobson and wife Dian; grandchildren, Shawn Miller and wife Wendy, Seth Hobson and wife Satoko, Justin Hobson and wife Sarah, Kelsi Jester and Husband David, Chris O’Quinn and wife Paige; great grandchildren, Finn and Henry Miller, Cora and Stephen Hobson, Jun and Miya Hobson, Kaleigh and Avery O’Quinn; and several nieces and nephews.  Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Union Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenny Gooden.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Union Grove Baptist.  Memorials can be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC  27055.  The family would like to thank Yadkin Nursing Care Center for all the love and care shown to Connie.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hobson family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
