Conrad Monroe Brown Sr.

Mr. Conrad M. Brown, Sr. passed away October 13, 2022, at the age of 97. He was born on May 12, 1925 to Jacob and Dolly Brown in North Oak Ridge, North Carolina. Conrad graduated from Yadkinville High School and served in Italy in the US Army during World War II. After the war, Conrad worked for many years at Brown’s Department Store. He had a unique and tender relationship with his wife of 74 years, Martha Mason Brown. They have left a legacy of joy and faithfulness that has served as an example and inspiration for many, and he embraced all that life had to offer. Conrad had a love for camping, golf, travel, and woodworking. He was also very involved in the community and served in the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge as well as regularly volunteering as a reader at Yadkinville Elementary. He was a faithful member of Yadkinville Baptist Church and served in various capacities including the diaconate council. Conrad will be remembered as a man of proven integrity and faithfulness, and for his deep love, passion, and concern for others. He consistently lived out his calling as a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and citizen. He fought the good fight of faith as written in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, and he finished his race with dignity, cheerfulness, and courage. He is survived by his wife Martha Brown, his brother and best friend, Leonard Brown, and sons, Foy (Traci) Brown, Buster (Sara) Brown, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Marie B. James. The family is indebted to Parkwood Independent Living in Elkin and Yadkinville Nursing Center for their compassionate care of Conrad. On Monday, October 17, 2022, the family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at 1st Baptist Church of Yadkinville, 304 S State Street Yadkinville, NC 27055. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, with the burial to follow at Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post #10346. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Brown family.
