Cora Gertrude Wooten Hutchens

Hutchens East Bend- Cora Gertrude Wooten Hutchens, 94, of East Bend, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018. She was born on September 27, 1923 to Edgar and Myrtle Hutchens Wooten. She had a love for her church, Forbush Friends Meeting, of which she was a member her entire life. She was the recording clerk for 26 years, taught Sunday School for a long time, sung in the church choir for many years, and was an elder of the church for several years. God took an angel home yesterday. Mrs. Hutchens was a farmer’s wife. She loved to cook and have lunch on the table every Saturday for her family. She loved to crochet and make book markers for everyone and she also enjoyed making butter. Cora loved the Lord and Savior, her church family and friends. She was honored to receive the Eliza Armstrong Cox Award from the Quaker young women for her service to the church. She loved her children and grandchildren. In additiom to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie F. Hutchens, son, Jimmy Gray Hutchens, daughter, Rachel Evans, daughter-in-law, Lynn  F. Hutchens, grandson, Tyler Reavis, brothers and sisters, Gypsy Fulp, Ralph Wooten. Benbow Wooten, Vicy Gay Key, Lillian Phillips, Ethel Griffin, Edgar Vernon Wooten, and Edsel Wooten. Surviving are her children, Ruth (Larry) Johnston, Ralph Hutchens, Jerry (Ann) Hutchens, and Rhonda (Benford) Davis, a sister, Barbara Gentry, a brother, Allen (Peggy) Wooten, Son-in-law,Bobby (Erlene) Evans, daughter-in-law, Linda Hutchens, grandchildren, Sharon Buelin, Sheila Reavis, Terry Johnston, David Hutchens, Amy Hutchens, Kendal Hutchens, Angie Hutchens, Luke Hutchens, Tracy Call, Shelly Brown, Adam Davis, great-grandchildren, Charlie Brown, Grace Brown, Abbie Johnston, Landon Johnston, Alex Hutchens, Savanna Hutchens, Ava Cousart, Sarah Hutchens, Avery Call, Bristol Call, Zachary Hutchens, Lindsey Hutchens, Kinsey Reavis, Kayla Minton, Megan Buelin, and one on the way, great-great-grandchildren, Cassidy Minton and Brooke Minton. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Forbush Friends Meeting with Rev. Ray Lamb and Rev. Jake Penley officiating. The body will lie instate thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6-8 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forbush Friends Meeting Building Fund, c/o Mary Wooten, 2821 Mill Hill Road, East Bend, NC 27018. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all of the family and friends, nieces and nephews for the love and support over the years.
