Cordelia "Laura" Maxwell Simmons

East Bend Mrs. Cordelia “Laura” Maxwell Simmons, 83, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at Clemmons Village 2. Mrs. Simmons was born April 10, 1936 in Columbus, GA to George and Cordelia Knight Maxwell. She was a member of East Bend Friends Meeting Church and was well known for her quilting. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Glenn Simmons, Sr.; and a brother, Karle Maxwell. She is survived by five children, Glenn Simmons, Laura Cordray, David (Rose) Simmons, Karle (Pam) Simmons, and Denise (Terry) Lyon; grandchildren, Candice, Christopher, Kelly, Joshua, Ben, Lynden, and Emily; great grandchildren, Brendon, Kaylee, Kinsey, Brentley, Hannah, Allison, Jacob, John, Micah, Shoshana, Barnabas, Isaac, Luke, and Samuel; a sister, Lila Ward; a sister-in-law, Helen Maxwell; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00AM, Friday, October 18, 2019 at Gentry Family Chapel in East Bend with Pastor Marty Wood officiating. Burial will follow at East Bend Friends Meeting cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM, Thursday evening at Gentry Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quilts of Valor PO Box 191 Winterset, IA 50273. The family wishes to thank Ann Furstenberg for the loving care and friendship given to Mrs. Simmons. Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend is serving the Simmons family.
