Coy Roger Calloway

Morganton Mr. Coy Roger Calloway, 79, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018. Mr. Calloway was born July 29, 1938 in Yadkin County to Coy Lee and Julia Mathis Calloway. He was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed gardening, sports, and being outdoors. Mr. Calloway was a referee for many years for softball, baseball, and basketball games and enjoyed working with the children. He worked in banking for several years after college, then worked in textile management for 32 years. After retirement, Mr. Calloway worked for Lowes for 5 years in the garden center. Mr. Calloway is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Linda Hembree Calloway; two children, Andrea (Andy) Rogers and Todd (Tina) Calloway; two step children, Cotrinna Stamey and Brian (Leslie) Benton; grandchildren, Harrison & Hannah Rogers, Joshua Calloway, Christopher Craig, Sebastian Benton, and Chanze Benton; one great grandchild, Sebastian Scott Pearson; one sister, Lynn (Wayne) Turner; and a nephew, Nathan (Anna) Turner. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Danny Emory officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burke County Hospice, 1721 Enon Road Valdese, NC 28690. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Lynn & Wayne Turner, the staff of Kendrid Home Health, and Meredith and Robin for the loving care given to Mr. Calloway during this difficult time.
