Coy Monroe McCollum

Pfafftown Mr. Coy Monroe McCollum, 88, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. McCollum was born July 20, 1929 in Forsyth County to Ephraim and Louella Vestal McCollum. He was an active member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Chairman of Deacons, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school Superintendent, and sang in the choir. He also sang with the Yadkin Senior Chorus and the local men’s group. Mr. McCollum retired from RJ Reynolds and enjoyed working part-time in real estate. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Caudle; and a brother, Roy McCollum. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy Hoots McCollum; two children, Lou Ann (Carl) Dennison and David (Jamie) McCollum; two grandchildren, Brittany and Kenton McCollum; two nieces, Adelaide (Raymond) Whitaker and Alma (Charles) Haynes; and one nephew, Max (Susan) Caudle. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00PM, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Enon Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6321 Old US 421 Hwy E, East Bend, NC 27018. Online condolences may be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
