CW4 Donald (Don) Lee Hemric

CW4 Donald (Don) Lee Hemric, Jr., 57, passed from death to eternal life with Christ, Thursday, July 7, 2022. He was born in Forsyth County to Donald L. Hemric and the late Ellen Byrnes Hemric on September 6, 1964. Don graduated from West Forsyth High School and Emory Riddle Aeronautical University. Don married Carolynn Hemric shortly after joining the U.S. Army. Don was an Army Aviator and flew UH-1 Huey’s but mainly flew UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters and was a Maintenance Test Pilot for many years at Fort Bragg, NC. They had a son Joshua while stationed in Texas and daughter, Amanda born in the Republic of Panama. He retired with 25 years of active duty and eight years of contract service. After retiring, Don and Carolynn moved to Yadkinville, NC and he worked a year with NC DOT IMAP in Winston-Salem. Don was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and Discipleship Group Leader. Don loved serving the Lord, spending time with his family, working in the yard and keeping everything running and maintained. He was a quiet, humble worker and servant who touched many lives, in many the many duty stations and countries in our world. Don was a wonderful husband and father and we are so thankful for the time we had with him. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Hemric. He is survived by his father, Don Hemric (Pauline), wife, Carolynn Hemric, and two children: Joshua and Amanda Hemric; 2 siblings, Brother-in-laws Jerry (Penny) Mabe, Don (Lynne) Mabe and several nephews and a nieces along with great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday July 10, 2022 at Peace Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Jon Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by the NC National Guard Military Honor Guard.
