SchlagelWinston-Salem- Dan Venson Schlagel, 62, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2017, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Durham, NC on April 25, 1955, and grew up in Yadkin County. He graduated from Forbush High School in 1973, and served in the US Air Force. Dan loved the New England region of the United States and always wanted to live in Vermont. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Celtics fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Art Schlagel and brother, Jay. He is survived by his wife, Connie Schlagel, his children Zach and Patricia Schlagel, and two grandchildren, all of South Carolina. He is also survived by his mother, Kay Schlagel of East Bend; his sisters Beth (Larry) Holleman of Mebane and Allyson Penny (Brian) Edwards of East Bend; his niece Sara Kellam (Josh) East Bend; nephews Hart Holleman of Saxapahaw and Jarratt Edwards of Chapel Hill, and his great niece Kaydee Kellam and great nephew Lucas Kellam. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 17 at 11:30 am at Lewisville Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Peden officiating. Visitation will follow at Lewisville United Methodist Church immediately after the service.
