Daniel “Dan” Thomas Black, 74, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2022 in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 2, 1948 in Forsyth County to the late Daniel Lee Black and Gladis Brown Black. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by brothers Perry and Ellis Black. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judith Hobson Black; children Jeremy T. Black and his wife, Lori, Wendi G. Davis and her husband, Michael, Jacqueline C. Boster and her partner, Jimmy, and Adam C. Hester and his wife, Tammy; his grandchildren, Megan (Justin), Nathan (Kimmy), Christopher (Liz), Abbi (Dakota), Kaylin, and Travis; and his great granddaughters Kenzie, Haleigh, and Payton, and great-grandson, Lucas. Dan “Popie” was a decorated Veteran, honorably discharged after serving in the Vietnam War he then went on to provide years of loyal service to Greyhound where he retired and began his carpentry and roofing business with his son, Jeremy – Dan’s Construction. Dan spent many years serving the community and building relationships with those he met. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time by the pool with family and building his “man cave” with best friends Thurmond Hester and Jimmy Lawson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. His funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel in East Bend. Burial will follow in the Grapevine Baptist Church Cemetery.
