Daniel "Dan" David O'Connor

Daniel David O’Connor, 86, of Boonville passed away on December 24, 2021 at his residence. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Guildford County, NC.; son of the late Harry O’Connor and Louise Wysong O’Connor. Dan worked till retirement as a Pilot with Piedmont Airlines, continue with Thomas Buses as a driver and worked as a bus driver with Yadkin County schools. He was a member of Mnt. View Baptist Church in Hamptonville, swam for the NC State University, member of the Quiet Birdman for Retired Pilots.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Harry O’Connor, Jr. and two brothers-in-law; Hut Moody and Don Pearce. Survivors include his wife; Bonnie Walker O’Connor, two children; Tracy Simmons and Theresa Mitchell and a step-daughter; Karen Carter, eight grandchildren; Peyton, Devin, Ryan, Sheldon Simmons and Jesse, Jordan, Andy Mitchell; a great granddaughter; Aubree Rose Rice, two sisters; Betty Moody and Frances Pearce, a brother; Martin O’Connor, Sr. (Nancy) and a sister-in-law; Betty Jane O’Connor.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday February 6, 2022 at 2:00PM in Gentry Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Terry Long and Mr. Terry Beaton officiating. Memorials may be directed to Mountain Valley Hospice, 201 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank Home Health Care and Mnt. Valley Hospice for their caring ways for Dan during this difficult time.
