Daphnia H. Martin, age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Pruitt Health in Elkin. She was born on October 7, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Thurmond T. Harris and Della Scott Harris. She graduated from Jonesville High School and Draughn’s Business College in Winston Salem. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville where she served as church secretary and treasurer. She was a godly wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dett Martin in 1983, son-in-law, Walt McCoy, daughter-in-law, Sheree’ Martin, brother Mack Harris and sister Janice Collins. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Karen (David) Kennedy, Joy McCoy, Brian (Kay) Martin, and Tim Martin; her grandchildren, Charlie, Bradley, and Michael Kennedy, Marty Church, Kristin Hughes, BJ Martin, Jessica Ashley, and Dett Martin; great-grandchildren, Brandon Church, Carter, Bralyn, Miles, and Lincoln Kennedy, Kadence Osborne, Ally, Erin and Katelyn Kennedy, Madison and Kendall Hughes, Deana Martin and Dane Martin; sister, Wanda Pederson; brother-in-law, Charles Collins, brother-in-law, Kenneth Martin; sister-in-law, Gaye Martin, sister-in-law Mary Harris and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Jonesville from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM following the visitation with Dr. Roger Hensley, Dr. Johnny Blevins, and Dr. Charlie Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Jonesville First Baptist Church-Daphnia Martin prayer garden.
