David Allen Guest, Sr.

November 27, 1937 — April 5, 2024

Hamptonville

Mr. David Allen Guest, Sr., age 86, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 in the presence of his loving family.

David was born November 27, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Charles William Guest and Dolores Madonna Noonan Guest. In 1999, he left his beloved Pittsburgh and relocated to Hamptonville, NC to be closer to his children and grandchildren. This new community in Yadkin County embraced his gentle, loving spirit and became a true home filled with many loved ones.

David was a master woodworking craftsman and spent his entire career in the carpentry field. From working at boat companies to cabinet-making shops to U.S. Steel and then to Allegheny County Parks Department, where he retired, David always took pride in his work; one of his most prized creations included a beautiful, rosewood conference table for the executive floor of the U.S. Steel building. Simultaneously, throughout his career, he had a home woodshop, building furniture and kitchen cabinets for others, and had also enlisted in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard where he served in the 112th Tactical Fighter Wing Air Police Squadron.

David enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, hunting and fishing, and working in his yard. He also developed a deep passion for cars. From the time he was 16, he owned over 60 vehicles, many of which he would take street racing.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, James J. Guest and Robert C. Guest; his sister, Shirley Guest Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Donna Marie Connell Guest; his children, David Allen (Judith) Guest Jr., Dolores Guest Kern; grandchildren, Richard Brandon Kern, Jessica Michelle Kern.

David will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville.
