David Lee Lyons

Boonville Mr. David “Cotton” “Harry” Lee Lyons, 72, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Lyons was born October 11, 1950 in Wilkes County to Mary Lyons. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Lyons enjoyed collecting cars in his younger days. He enjoyed time fishing and spending time with his grand dog, Hunter. In addition to his mother, Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann Hemric Lyons; his grandfather, Jesse Lyons; his mother-in-law, Betty Lou Hemric; and two brothers, Steve Gentry and Jerry Lyons. He is survived by his son, David (Emma) Lyons II; his grand dog Hunter Lyons; his sister, Patricia Waddell; and many other special family members and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center ICU for the loving care given to Mr. Lyons.
