Deborah June Shaffner Goodwin

Deborah June Shaffner Goodwin, 71, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. She was born December 14, 1950 in Yadkin County to the late James Ray Shaffner and Patty Moxley Shaffner. June loved music, with her angelic voice, piano, and accordion.  She warmed and brought joy into our hearts with her music. Her life was a hymn of gladness to others. She is preceded in death by her father James Ray Shaffner; her husband Donald Gavin Goodwin; daughter Dania June Goodwin Cothren; and son Dillon Ray Goodwin. Surviving are her children Devin (Sarah) Goodwin, and Darren Goodwin; mother Patty Moxley Shaffner; grandchildren Britany (Shannon) Francis, Safari Crawford, Amanda Goodwin, Lakota Goodwin, Grant Cothren, Kenzie Cothren, Samantha Goodwin, and Addison Goodwin; great grandchildren Frankie, Ember, Kindel, Ruby, and Aylania; sister Amanda Brown; and brother James Edward (Rhonda) Shaffner. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday November 17, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Her funeral will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday November 18, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville. The service will be live streamed. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road. A reception to follow the burial at East Elkin Full Gospel Church 11985 NC 268 Bypass Elkin, NC 28621. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a Mental Health Organization of your choice. The family also asks that you check on loved ones who are isolated or in need.
