Della Rose Newman Byrd

Mrs. Della Rose Newman Byrd, 82, passed away to her heavenly home to join her Lord and Savior, her loving husband and precious mother and father.  Mrs. Byrd was born February 19, 1936 in Yadkin County to Roy and Gladys Chappell Newman.  She was a member of Swaims Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping supply flower arrangements for the church until her health prevented the joy of her doing so.  She enjoyed all kinds of crafts she would share with her friends.  Della Rose was a graduate of West Yadkin High School and retired from Insurance Service Center in Elkin after 25+ years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Toby” Lee Byrd.  She is survived by two daughters, Tyanne (Ron) Tabor and Tracy (David) Cook; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Jamie) Phillips, Abby Wilmoth, and Dustin Sloop (Megan Payne); four great grandchildren, Bryson Phillips, Andrew, Tyra and Jaylon Jones; one great-great grandchild, Grayson Roy Hazelwood; a sister-in-law, Lois (Ronnie) Macy; and special cousins, Jean, Bonnie, Judy, Glenda, and Marie who have been a loving part of her life.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Roger Groce officiating.  Burial will follow at Swaims Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Jean Ashburn and her family, Lois & Ronnie Macy, and Judy Groce for the loving care given to Della Rose.  Online condolences may be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
