Dellaphine Carter Key

March 16, 1940 - January 24, 2024

Jonesville - Dellaphine Carter Key, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Friend, and Wife passed peacefully January 24, 2024. She was 83 and was preceded in passing by her inseparable soulmate and husband, Billy Autie Key after sharing 64 wonderful years of marriage together.  Dellaphine and Billy were on the go every day; and loved yard selling/flea markets, traveling, spending time with family, and gardening. Dellaphine also loved arts and crafts, decorating, taking care of friends and family and when all of her loves came together to give her a chance to share her love for others with a meal and something pretty that was her happy place.

All of Dellaphine’s hope and wishes lives on thru her son, Mike and wife Donna; grandchildren, Mickey and wife Amanda, Matt and wife Tam, Jon, Aspen; great grandchildren, Ezra, Eli, and Emma; sister, Judy Shelton; brother, Bobby Carter and wife Betty; nieces and nephews, Mendi, David, and Glenda; aunt, Jo; and her extended work, travel and church families.

Dellaphine worked for Hanes-Sara Lee Hosiery for 40 plus years with special friends like Wilma and John Gregory and their kids  William, Carlee and Sapphire.  She retired with a dream to travel the country with her husband like they did so many summers before with their son and grandkids.  The Lantern Lighters Camp Club was always a huge part of the couple’s lives and she loved spending time with special friends including Mary, Jim, Jerry, Sherron and Ricky at their mountain home away from home, with all her heart.  She was a proud member of Island Ford Church after attending with her mother and grandmother for so many years.  And every Tuesday, regardless of weather, was a gathering of her special friends that included Martha, Susan and Mary Ruth at Allegany Cares in Sparta.  Dellaphine always arrived early, to spend beloved time with friends that were always close to her heart.  She will be missed by many.

Dellaphine’s family will receive friends to share cherished memories from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday February 3rd 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  A service to honor her life will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev.
