EAST BEND – Mr. Delmer E. Pettit, 87, of Forbush Road passed away peacefully Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home. He was born October 22, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late James and Flossie Mae Omara Pettit. Mr. Pettit was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Faith Community Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of Industrial Fabricators Machine Inc. for over 41 years of which he was awarded different patents for his designs. He loved and adored his grandchildren, enjoyed watching old westerns and Forensic Files on TV, smoking his pipe, and eating white fish at Mount Olympus or Yadkin Valley Seafood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pettit was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sue Brown Pettit; by his son, Craig Eugene Pettit; his twin brother, Elmer Pettit; brothers, Calvin Pettit and Harold Pettit; and by his sisters, Catherine Jackson and her husband, Roland; and Geraline Knight and her husband, Ronnie. Surviving are his beloved daughter-in-law that he loved and treated like his own daughter, Melissa Jester Pettit; his devoted grandchildren, Devin Pettit, Aubrey Pettit; brothers, Jackie Pettit and wife, Ann; David Pettit; his sister-in-law, Marietta Pettit; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Tuesday at Faith Community Baptist Church in East Bend. His Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the church at 2 PM Tuesday with Rev. Brian Poindexter and Rev. Brandon Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice especially his nurses, Sonya and Leon, for all their loving care and support provided to them.
