Dixia Colene Kimmer Steelman

Steelman   Boonville- Mrs. Dixia Colene Kimmer Steelman, 83, of Boonville, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2019. She was born in Surry County on February 7, 1936 to Melvin and Hester Mosteller Kimmer. She was a member of Boonville Baptist Church and an active member of the Boonville Women’s Club. Mrs. Steelman was a retired beautician. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother and loved her grandchildren. She was a hard worker and provided well for her family. She enjoyed her quilting with her quilting sisters and she loved her flowers. She was a champion apple pie baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, James Kimmer, Hazel Evans, Doris Shore, Mozelle Hall, Howard Kimmer, and Vermell Kimmer and by a grandson, James Lynn Steelman. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Bennett “Benny” Steelman, her children, Danette (Keith) Steelman-Bridges, Janene (Matthew) Steelman-Dolge, James Shannon (Tracie) Steelman, and Amara (Tim) Steelman-White; her grandchildren, Joshua (Valentina) Bridges, Mark Bridges, Stephen Bridges, Andrew Dolge, Christopher Dolge, Kaleigh (Connor) Vanhoy, Laken Steelman, Houston Steelman, Jessica (Seth) Walton, Brittany White, and Kennedy-Grace White, and Rylan White; two great-grandchildren, Bryce Vanhoy and Kinsley Vanhoy; a sister Velma Wagoner. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Boonville Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Larry Thompson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30-3:00 at the church. A special thank you to her care giver, Nellie Harris.
