Hobson Lewisville – Donald Hauser Hobson, 84, passed away Friday, September 01, 2017. He was born September 12, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Claude Hauser Hobson and Maude Kirkman Hobson. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1950 – 1953 and he was stationed in Fort Smith Arkansas. While in the Army, he was a drill sergeant, marksman, and won several trophies. Don retired after working 39 years for Western Electric / Lucent Technologies and was assigned to CNFJ (Commander of Naval Forces Japan) for 13 years. Don loved cats and he never knew a stranger. He was a photographer and made pictures of many people in many places he frequented and returned a copy of the picture to them. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Janice Moxley. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Holmes Hobson; children, Pamela Hobson (John) Boehme, Monte Britton (Melody) Hobson, Bryon Scott (Elizabeth) Hobson; grandchildren, Austin (Lara) Boehme, Hunter Boehme, Brittany (Sean) Mason, Courtney Hobson, Jake Hobson, Delaney Hobson; great grandchild, Benjamin Mason; brothers and sisters, Frankie Hutchens, Cora Lee (Mitchell) Casstevens, Jack (Linda) Crissman, Ross (Eloise) Crissman, Kay (Wayne) Hayes; and several nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Will Hamrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Richmond Hill Baptist Church.
